It Began With A Bang 💥

I’ve always loved animals and couldn’t ever understood why people wanted to eat them. It just didn’t make any sense to me, so I became vegetarian from the moment I started making my own choices. That was back when the only real meat-free alternative was a dry vegetable burger. Still, my principles were strong and my parents fully supported me, which really helped. Now I’m proud to be vegan. And thankfully the quality of food today is far better!

Back in 2017, life for me in Brighton was whizzing along merrily. But then I had a bicycle accident and I needed brain surgery to curb an aneurysm. Proper Curveball. During the recovery I thought long and hard about all the important things in my life. I’d had enough of doing mundane jobs to get by and I wanted to do something more substantial for myself and the planet. I knew it was time to make some changes.

Being a lifelong foodie with a passion for cooking and sharing my creations with others, the idea of A Tribe Called Veg started to form. I wanted to create and offer tasty plant-based foods that would make a big impact on people, not on the environment. And not just food solely for vegans or veggies either. I wanted to create delicious dishes that would appeal to everybody, that just happened to be meat and dairy-free.

Plan in place, heart in throat. As soon as I’d recovered from the operation, I quit my job and took the plunge.

And to this day, I haven’t looked back. (Except, of course, on my bike.)
